DARPA Site Visit
For the site visit, the vehicle was required to traverse a 200m course with randomly
placed obstacles (trash cans). The Black Pearl performed nearly flawlessly, staying
within most course boundaries and bumping only one obstacle throughout four runs.

The
successful Palos Verdes High School
QID (Qualification) run. In this video,
the
vehicle navigates between DARPA-selected GPS (Global Positioning
System)
latitude/longitude
pairs called "waypoints", while avoiding pre-positioned obstacles.
One
of the obstacles (A blue van with SCORE Off-Road racing bumper stickers)
was
positioned directly on the GPS waypoint. The PVRW vehicle was one of
the few
vehicles
which never touched that van during the whole QID week.
Several
of the four students who wrote the core software onboard the vehicle
are now on
Team Tormenta.
